The tuks offer a forward facing seating opposition, thus allowing passengers to truly experience all the best sights we visit.
Included in the price is the pick up from your accommodation and transport to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal (Malta) to be on board the Gozo Channel ferry that sails at 09h45am, arriving at the Mgarr Arrivals Terminal (Gozo) at 10h15am. On exiting the arrivals terminal lounge kindly locate our company representative of Yippee holding aTuk-Tuk Tours Gozo sign.
The Tuk-Tuk tour departs from Mgarr Harbour, and our first stop will be the village square of Xewkija, in front of the Xewkija Rotunda church. Entrance to the Rotunda is free of charge.
A 360 degree panaromic view of the island of Gozo can be enjoyed from the roof of the rotunda is accessed through a lift against a small fee which is to payable directly to the church and is not included in the price.
We leave the village of Xewkija through it's back roads and through the village of Sannat we cross over to the village of Munxar, home to the beautiful Sanap Cliffs. Our second stop. The pathway to Sanap Cliffs is not easily accessible by public transport or on foot. Our Tuk-Tuk gets you there.
Sanap Cliffs offer a unique experience of the rugged landscape and sea of the southern part of the island of Gozo. We approach Xlendi Bay stopping at the Belvedere overlooking the Xlendi tower. The tower is one of the Lascaris towers and dates back to 1650, and is the oldest free-standing coastal watchtower in Gozo. Heading down towards the Xlendi Bay, one can enjoy the long stretch of cliffs and the bay. Leaving Xlendi bay behind us the driver tuks up the hill to the village of Fontana, where we pass by the old wash house which was built by the Knights, named after a natural spring which flows nearly all year.
Leaving the village of Fontana we head towards the village of San Lawrenz, passing by the Aquadot on the surburbs of Victoria. The aquadot was built by the British between 1839 and 1843 to transport water from Ghar Ilma in the limitis of Kercem to the capital Victoria. Through the village of San Lawrenz we head down towards our next stop at Dwejra Bay.
Dwejra is also home to the Fungus Rock, Dwejra Inland sea and the blue hole - one of Gozo's top dive-sites. Dwejra tower, is a small watchtower in Dwejra Bay that was completed in 1652. We Tuk-Tuk back uphill towards the village of Gharb, and reach the next stop at Ta' Pinu Basilica which is dedicated to Our Lady of Ta'Pinu, it was built between 1920 and 1931.
It is an architectural masterpiece, especially inside with its superb sculptures and craftsmanship in Maltese stone. Entrance to the Basilica is free of charge.The parvis of the Basilica has been recently given a transformation and now boasts 20 stations of the Cross made out of mosiac.
We Tuk-Tuk downhill enjoying the valley known as Wied il-Mielah, appraoching the Wied il-Mielah window, where once again we stop. This is a limestone natural arch on the north-western coast of the island of Gozo. It is located at the end of the valley known as Wied il-Mielah in north of the village of Gharb.This experience is not accessible by public transport. In the distance one can also see the Fanal tal-Gordan. This lighthouse is still active and it is located on a hill above the village of Ghasri. This experience is not accessible by public transport.
We then head towards the west side of the fishermans village of Marsalforn, reaching the Salt Pans in the fisherman's village of Marsalforn. We stop to admire he chequerboard formation of the rock-cut salt pans protruding into the sea which date back some 350 years. The salt pans stretch for about 3km along the coast. We proceed passing through Xwejni bay and the village of Marsalforn heading towards the village of Xaghra.
At this village we offer a choice to our passengers between the Ggantija Temples or Calypso Cave. Ggantija is a megalithic temple complex from the Neolithic period and are the earliest temples of the Maltese islands.There is an entrance fee to the temples that is not included in the price. Alternativley the other choice is free of charge and it's Calypso Cave.
Calypso Cave in the village of Xaghra, overlooks the glorious red sands of Ramla il-Hamra and surrounding valley.This is another great photo opportunity. It is alleged that Calypso's Cave is the cave referred to by Homer in The Odyssey. We Tuk-Tuk downhill leaving behind the village of Xaghra we come onto the rich and fertile Ramla Valley, on the northern side of the island of Gozo. We Tuk-Tuk uphill on the other side of the valley approaching the village of Nadur, towards Ta'Kenuna Tower.
This semaphore (sign) tower was built by the British in 1848 and is 130 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by a small attractive botanical garden that has a number of plants that are native to the Maltese islands. This stop offers a unique backdrop as it overlooks the island of Comino, giving a great opportunity for a photo with the unique Blue Lagoon as a backdrop. We Tuk-Tuk our way down to Mgarr Yacht Marina, where we board one of our boats.
Our skipper will stop at the Blue Lagoon as he approaches Cirkewwa harbour in Malta where he will escort you to your transportation, which will return you to your original pick up point.
Operation of our boat is subject to weather conditions and should the sea be too rough on the day we shall provide you with a Gozo Chanel Ferry ticket (included in the price if required), and upon arrival at Cirkewwa Arrivals terminal your transportation back to the original pick point will be awaiting you.
Around midway of the tour we shall stop for a 3 course meal which is also included in the price in the city of Victoria. As we approach Gozo's capital city of Victoria there is a quick opportunity to take a photo with the Citadel in the background.
During the summer season the package will also include a swim stop. The driver will ensure your safety by offering the safest bay on the day according to the prevaling winds.
